The Vodacom Bulls get their pink on for CANSA

Bulls

On Saturday 2 April 2016, the Vodacom Bulls will go head to head against the Toyota Cheetahs in the 5th round of the Vodacom Super Rugby in what looks to be a power play of a game. The game will take place at Loftus Versfeld, the home of the Bulls.

The one thing that will set this game apart from any other match on the 2016 rugby calendar? The Bulls will take to the field in a pink kit (a lot different to the previous pink kit you might remember) and fans will have a unique opportunity to get their hands on one of the 23 jerseys from the match. A true one of a kind item if ever there was one.

The kit is set to be a showstopper, and is all in the name of raising funds and awareness for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) as part of the #GetYourPinkOn campaign. This follows the success of the first #GetYourPinkOn campaign between the Bulls and CANSA in 2012.

The Bulls have been pretty ballsy this year and have set a fundraising target of over half a million Rand, which they are aiming to achieve through the jersey fundraiser, an SMS line and various brand sponsorship opportunities. But, they can’t do it alone. So be sure to head on over to www.getyourpinkon.co.za for more information on ways to get involved and champion the cause.

100% of all funds raised through the #GetYourPinkOn campaign will go directly to CANSA to purchase an additional mobile health clinic.

On match day, CANSA will have its mobile health clinic at the stadium as a platform to help provide awareness and clinical breast cancer examinations, as well as sharing breast cancer educational material to reduce the cancer risk. CEO for CANSA, Elize Joubert, is delighted to be part of the campaign once again. “Being part of the #GetYourPinkOn campaign is a super opportunity for CANSA to educate and highlight the importance of regular breast cancer screening to promote early detection and improve treatment outcomes. We’re thrilled that we can partner with the Vodacom Blue Bulls team and their supporters – they have shown that have great hearts and we looking forward to them sharing their ‘pink’ hearts with us.”

Shanil Mangaroo, head of marketing and communication for the Blue Bulls Company, affirms that the #GetYourPinkOn campaign is something that the Bulls team and brand feel very strongly about, and are looking forward to raising funds and awareness through sport. “Cancer has touched all our lives in one way or the other, directly or indirectly. We firmly believe that given our massive and strong support base, we can become a voice and a platform for a great cause. We’ve always been about family at the Bulls (staff, team, sponsors, and especially fans), and leveraging of the #BullsFamily we truly believe that we can make a significant contribution financially, to a great cause, while educating and creating awareness for CANSA,” Mangaroo adds.

The Bulls will also be calling on some of SA’s top athletes, celebs and #BullsFamily to jump on board in support of the #GetYourPinkOn campaign over the next few weeks, with a few other surprises up their sleeve. Be sure to keep an eye out on the Bulls’ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BullsOfficial and Twitter https://twitter.com/BlueBullsRugby pages for the latest updates and info.

The big match (at 19:10 on 2 April 2016) looks to be one of epic proportions. Fans can book their ticket via www.bulls.ticketpros.co.za, and are encouraged to attend the game dressed in pink.
