Besides it being a great (and easy) tool for people to invest in shares and learn how the investment game works, EasyEquities is being driven by a team of passionate individuals who are intent on pushing boundaries and making investing understandable and affordable for all South Africans. An interesting thing about EasyEquities, is that is was born out of failure – of the stockbroking market. When less than half a percent of South Africans participate in the stock market, some serious issues need to be addressed. The stockbroking market has been failing slowly for 20 years, where it hasn’t adapted sufficiently to the huge changes in the economy that were brought about in South Africa post-1994, as well as the rapidly evolving internet and broadband space. “If the stockbroking market had failed faster, EasyEquities would have happened sooner. It’s best to reach success through a series of failures. I have failed many times in business, but I have a high appetite for risk, which leads to a tolerance of failure,” says Charles Savage, CEO of Purple Group (who created and launched EasyEquities.)
